What you'll do

In this important role on AlixPartners' Legal-Compliance-Risk team, the person will provide operational and administrative support to the Legal team for implementation and maintenance of projects and processes designed to increase efficiency. You will also assist in providing reporting and data analysis used to support informed decision-making and help identify ongoing opportunities for improvement. AlixPartners work environment is fast-paced, and this role will help to ensure the legal team is efficient, highly responsive to internal stakeholders, agile and well harmonized to achieve desired outcomes. This person should be passionate about process improvements, and efficiencies while working collaboratively throughout the firm and geographies. This person will work with the Legal Manager and team as the system matter experts on the Legal Team's contract management tool (Ironclad). This role will support colleagues in the US/UK as well as provide support to the firm's Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and other senior leaders within Legal. The position requires strong writing, organization, and communication skills, as well as excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

The Legal Operations Professional is in Southfield, MI, reporting to the Legal Manager, and will be a member of our Global Engagement Team within the Legal team. Paid relocation is not available.

  • Assist the Legal Manager to maintain and grow the firm's contract management tool (Ironclad) as well as help train individuals across the firm from both client services as well as corporate services.
  • Assist the Legal Manager to with operational initiatives.
  • Support the Legal Manager in identifying, requirement gathering, and implementing new legal department tools to streamline new or existing practices, design, rollout, and training for new systems.
  • Support the Legal Manager with budget matters and optimizing workflows within the legal department.
  • Assist the Legal Manager with analyzing legal department data to identify trends, patterns, and areas of potential process optimization and improvement.
  • Assist with designing and generating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to measure and evaluate legal department operations.
  • Assist with the creation of knowledge-management and operational documentation such as user manuals, training materials, and process maps.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding of legal team members.
  • Promote legal knowledge management; responsible for updating a repository of company forms, agreements, and templates for accuracy and relevance.
  • Support the CLO and other legal team members with ad hoc administrative tasks.
  • Assist the Legal Team respond to requests on a timely basis, including uploading documents to the software tool and reviewing documents for compliance with the firm's standards.
  • Respond quickly to requests for information, documents, policies, templates, instructions.

What you'll need

  • An Associate's degree or higher highly preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal or other relevant business experience; clerical experience preferred.
  • Experience with legal project operations and management in-house or at a law firm. Practical business experience and familiarity with consulting industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency and willingness to work with technology related business tools is mandatory; the selected candidate will be expected to spend much of their time working with Contract Management Software (Ironclad), ticketing software (ServiceNow), Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, and working/communicating via e-mail (Outlook) and Teams.
  • Experience in implementing legal related technology systems or tools a plus.
  • A demonstrated understanding of how to develop, implement, and enhance processes.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent proofreading skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a matrix, team-oriented environment; Ability to work as a business partner with variety of people across cultures and geographic locations, to deliver consistent and timely results.
  • Flexible with a genuine curiosity and the ability to handle competing priorities in a dynamic, high-growth environment with a team-oriented mentality, humility, and a healthy sense of humor.

  • Ability to handle and protect confidential, sensitive information.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to communicate detailed and complex information to others.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and in particular as unique projects/needs arise.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
